Sharing Hope for Orphans and Every Soul

    Background:

Once upon a time, a little girl was born in China.  She had many special needs and was
abandoned. She was taken to an orphanage in Taiyuan, Shanxi.  One day, Tang Xia (a lady
who worked for China Care) took her to China Care group home.  She received medical
attention and surgeries.  Eventually, she was moved to a foster family.  She remained there
    until she was adopted.

While in foster care, she was well loved.

In March 2009, Zoe's mother Beth went to
China and had the amazing opportunity to
meet this foster family.  There were many
tears that day - two women who loved the
same little girl met. It was a great
opportunity for Beth to see the house
where Zoe had been living.  It was a dream
come true.  Ayi-ma said it was also
something she'd never dared to hope for -
a chance to hear about the little girl she
    had grown to love.

In November 2009, Zoe went back to China and got to meet this foster family.  Once again
many tears.  The foster mother hand made shoes for Zoe and though they had not had any
contact in 2 1/2 years, by miracle, they fit perfectly.  The story goes that up until recent
generations, grandmothers traditionally hand made shoes for their grandchildren.

Meanwhile, we found out that every member of this foster family is out of work.  An idea was
    born!

We talked to the foster mother and foster daughters and they love the idea of being able to
make these shoes.  She told us that before Zoe came to live with her, she had no idea that
there were orphans in the world.  But since she left, she wondered how to help other orphans.

We felt it was a win/win situation.  American families who have adopted children from China
would have the opportunity to purchase hand-made shoes, made by love by a woman who
loves deeply.  And this woman would be able to make a living wage doing something she
    enjoys doing.
