Zoe, Beth and Shari go home |
| Nov 25 7:30pm (Florida time) Z Had no internet connection the past few days so I wrote the blog but couldn't send it. We got in very late last night - actually after midnight. We had a nice surprise that Dan and the kids were at the airport waiting for us. I'd arranged for a church friend, Elsa, to meet us since it was way past bedtime. Thanks Elsa for your willingness!! But it was a nice scene at the airport. The kids saw us get off the shuttle and they RAN to meet us and hug us. So sweet. Zoe had been craving Taco Bell for a week so we stopped and got her one on the way home. Hey, to HER tummy, it was 1pm and I'd not fed her lunch yet so it made perfect sense to me. Zoe and I got showers and off to bed. By the time I crawled into bed, it was almost 2am. But before I did that, I got a glass of water (from the filter in our sink), with ice, brushed my teeth with the tap water, ate a tomato and an apple. All things you take for granted in the US. Somehow as we were flying home, Zoe and I could just 'sense' that we were nearing the end of the trip. By the time we landed in Chicago, I could almost CRY that I was home. A security guard checking us in asked how I was and I told him "happy to be home". "Chicago is home?" "No, I've been in China for 2 weeks and as much as I love China, there's no place like home." "Amen". We had such a tight schedule in Chicago that we didn't even get to say Good-bye to Shari. Her luggage came through quickly but ours was delayed before checking into customs. By the time we got through, she was on her plane to Denver. We had a quick bite at McDonalds and got on our very, very bumpy plane. This morning, most of the kids slept in (it was raining outside and it was heavenly to sleep to). In fact, Luke, Kaley and I didn't wake up until noon! Then off to the banks, the Fed Ex store and Walmart (where everyone else in Brandon, Florida was). Considering all we've been through, I think we're extremely blessed. Never sick, no major mishaps. Just favor, favor, favor. Now we're going to get to the real work of figuring out how to do all of this! Thanks for joining on this journey and I hope you'll all continue on during the next phases of this journey. Should prove to be an interesting one!!! Love to all, Beth |
